Monte Ito Memorial Scholarship
The David S. Ishii Foundation, a non-profit, tax-exempt, 501c3
organization, serves to administer the Monte Ito Memorial
Scholarship. This scholarship
serves to perpetuate the memory of longtime Honolulu sportswriter Monte
Ito of the Honolulu Advertiser. It is awarded to a student whose interests
combine an appreciation of both journalism and golf. The $1,500 scholarship is funded by the Honolulu Advertiser.

2009 Monte Ito Scholarship
The 2009 Monte Ito Memorial Scholarship was awarded to Daniel Tanigawa, a recent graduate of Pearl City High School. Tanigawa has played golf for most of his life and became a member of his high school golf team during his senior year. He also served as sports editor for his school paper during his junior and senior years. He will be attending the University of Hawaii Manoa.
